On october 16th "A List Apart" released The Web Design Survey 2007 which they made in co-operation with "An Event Apart", interviewing people who make websites.
 
Since they started the survey in april 2007 approximately 33,000 web design professionals answered the survey’s 37 questions, which is quite impressive not only because The Web Design Survey provides the first data ever collected on the web design and development business worldwide.
 
The survey contains very detailed information about the Web Designindustry these days. Every professional had to aswer very personal questions. The Survey is asking for age, gender, ethnicity, job title and the geographic location.
 
Other fields of interest were the designers education, if their field of study is related or unrelated to  their current web work. It was also asked who they were excited by, if they have a personal website or blog, how much time they spend for personal websites.
 
Also the business related part of the questionnaire contains some very interestings points. For example is the type of organization and size of interest. How many ours the designers work per week and how many years they are in the field of web design. A List Apart also aksed the for their degree of web work, the number of years at their current job, the number of jobs they held, their next career move and if they get paid vacations and holidays.
 
Everyone thinking about becoming a designer or looking for one may also be interested in the questions about how much money/ salary a web designer gets, the mount of last raise and the time since the last raise.
 
Very unique are the questions about perceived biases, as there geographic bias, bias because of age, gender or ethnic reasons.
