Last week I had the chance to learn how to build a page for my website in Facebook and how to make that Facebook-Page popular. The good thing is, Facebook pages are free and they can bring you traffic if you know how. I was fortunate, Mark Fulton helped me out, setting up my Jabz-Facebook-Page (become a fan if you are a fan!).
To set up your Facebook-Page go to Facebook and log into your account. Than call this /pages/create.php. Now you can setup your page. Besides a link and a nice little 200x125 thumbnail of your website, Facebook allows you to add general information. When you finished setting up your page you can publish it and start finding fans of your website. Each and every other Facebook member can become a fan your website. Fans can decide if they want your website`s thumbnail on their profile-page, which links to your Facebook-Page. This is how you generate Traffic, via other members accounts through a catchy thumbnail (I know, mine is not the catchiest).
Why Facebook Pages Are Great
Although most of Facebook is behind a login, Fan pages are public and search engines can index the page and if you are lucky, people add you to their profiles (become a fan). Another point is, that you can add a link to your website, a link that is free.
If you do not plan to spam, you also have the chance to keep fans posted about new products or new information on your website (Facebook-Page Mini-Feed).
Facebook Sells Social Ads
As the whole idea of these pages is to sell advertisements (social ads), Facebook has also statistics about how many people became a fan of your websites as well as tendencies in clickthroughs and visits. If this free pages are not enough for you, or you just cannot get enough idiots to become a fan of your spammy-website, you can also buy coverage for your page on Facebook.
Facebook allows you to setup Social Ad Campaigns with the following features:
- Advanced Targeting: Target by age, gender, location, interests, and more.
- Content Integration: Get noticed, not skipped.
- Flexible Pricing: Buy clicks (CPC) or impressions (CPM).
- Trusted Referrals: Attach friend-to-friend interactions about your business to your ads.
The unique selling proposition is that you can reach the right people with your social ads. Instead of creating an advertisement and hoping that it reaches the right customers, you can create a Facebook Social Ad and target it precisely to the audience you choose. The ads can also be shown to users whose friends have recently engaged with your Facebook Page or engaged with your website through Facebook Beacon. Social Ads are more likely to influence users when they appear next to a story about a friend's interaction with your business.
