Google has confirmed for us that that Google Sitelinks will now show up to eight links instead of the usual five sitelinks. The change coincidentally coincides with sitelinks feature in Google's webmaster tools. You can see which links on your site have been identified as candidates for appearing directly in Google search results.You can find the new feature in webmaster tools > domain > dashboard > links.
 
In my eyes a very brave step from Google. All over the globe people are proud to have so called authority sites. These sites are ranked no one in google and show deeplinks  along with the description of the site.  I considered this always a sign of Google trust but not anymore.
 
When Joe Tamargo brought the new sitelinks to my attention he sent me a sample search request for Drupal, a dutch content management sytem which we obviously both like. Drupla.org is a so called authority site that shows deeplinks. But, as stated above, not anymore. Some of the deeplinks were exchanged. Information about Drupal can now be found on anonymouse.ru (which is entirely offline) andoffers you to download Drupal from frsirt.com. Frsirt.com has advertisements and only redirects to the Drupal download. As downloads are a highly security sensitive thing I despise Googles decision to change these deeplinks and therefore lower the authority status.
