Among many other parking companies out there, Sedo and TrafficZ are the most important ones to monetize Traffic and buy or sell domains. Jay Westerdal of domaintools.com recently discovered a funny thing:

The german tld of TrafficZ, TrafficZ.de, was recently registered by Tim Schumacher the CEO of Sedo. Not to tell that it is redirecting to a Sedo signup page. In Jay`s opinion this "crosses a few moral lines". I for myself think different. Although this a bit ugly the the only intelligent step. Internet marketing never was and definately is not about morality. Think of all the email spammers, blackhat SEOs, Spy- and Adware distributers and of course domain squatters.

Every markerter, domaineer out there would do the same. Domain squatting is very popular these days, everybody does it, even ICANN understands this problem and thinks about proper reactions.
 
I am pretty sure that Tim Schumacher calculated it all through. One profits from this a long as possible. It is only over when it is over. The email spammer will spam as long as the risk of getting caught is low and the blackhat SEO will cloak as long as it works. Even if the system only works for a couple of minutes, hours or a few days. As long as it brings the wanted result, it will go on. This is a respected way of doing business and one of the first things you learn even at university. On the other hand, why was TrafficZ too slow in getting the domain? This is a legitimate question. Think about it.

Of course TrafficZ has been trying to resolve the little conflict for a while. Obviously they were unsuccessful. Jay also said something (from my point of view) very naive:
 
"I would like to think we are in a small community where everyone gets along and there are no conflicts that can’t be solved by just talking it out. Sedo should do the right thing and let’s move on. This industry is big enough for multiple companies."

In my eyes he is wrong again. He should know the capacities of the market better and that no responsible CEO would ever let a chance like this go. Of course this is ugly and yes there should be suficiant laws against these things, but as long as one can do it it is the only right decision if you want to stay number one in the market.
